Jackson Park (on the Lake Michigan shoreline) and the Midway Plaisance, a treasured legacy of the Chicago World’s Fair that defines the surrounding neighborhoods, including the University of Chicago. This federal landmark status of the two park properties triggers a requirement for what is called a “Section 106 review” under the terms of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.
